One of the aims of Pluridentities is to have an impact on policy. For this, a number of actions are being set up, and one of them is the publication of policy papers. Our first policy paper is out and it focuses on policy documents collected in Aruba, Belgium, Spain, Sweden, and the Netherlands as part of Work Package 3 (Victoria Van Oss, Bart van Donselaar, Jill Surmont and Eric Mijts; Vrije Universiteit Brussel)
📊Across Europe, schools are expected to deliver two things at once: strong proficiency in the dominant school language(s) and meaningful opportunities to develop additional languages. At the same time, classrooms are becoming more linguistically diverse. This combination creates a clear policy challenge: multilingualism is widely valued in principle, but it is not consistently supported in practice.
