
Our Research Consortium
Who are we?
The consortium is made up of a multidisciplinary group of research teams made up of linguists, teacher trainers and political scientists. The members of the consortium are based in Belgium (Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven), The Netherlands (University of Amsterdam), Sweden (University of Gothenburg), Spain (University of Córdoba) and Aruba (University of Aruba) and have extensive and complementary research experience on language acquisition in different type of educational settings, technology in education and the impact these different settings and approaches have on the formation of (language) identities on both contextual, teacher and pupil level, using survey methodology, experiments, observations and interviews. This will ensure the achievement of the Pluridentities goals in due time and will guarantee standards of excellence. The structure of the project was designed in such a way that each member of the consortium can focus on his/her area of expertise, so as to achieve complementarity of disciplines, knowledge and methods across the entirety of the project.

Kris Van den Branden
Promotor
Kris Van den Branden is a Professor of Linguistics at the at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium) and the current Head of the Teacher Education Department of the Faculty of Arts at the same university. He teaches courses in language policy, language education and interaction in language acquisition at master’s level.

Cristina A. Huertas-Abril
Promotor
Cristina A. Huertas-Abril a full professor at the University of Córdoba (Spain). She is the Principal Investigator of the Research Group 'Research in Languages, Technology and Education' (RELATED). Her research focuses on CALL, English as a foreign language, bilingual education and teacher training.

Francisco J. Palacios-Hidalgo
Scientific collaborator
Francisco J. Palacios-Hidalgo is an associate professor at the University of Córdoba (Spain). He is a member of the Research Group 'Research in Languages, Technology and Education' (RELATED). His research focuses on the teaching of English as a foreign language, language teacher training, educational technologies, teacher digital literacy and queer pedagogy.

Rocío Luque-González
Scientific collaborator
Rocío Luque-González is an Assistant Professor at the University of Córdoba (Spain). She is a member of the 'Laboratory of Studies on Coexistence and Prevention of Violence' (LAECOVI). Her research focuses on social-emotional competence and social wellbeing.

Victoria Van Oss
Project coordinator/researcher
Victoria Van Oss is the coordinator of Pluridentities and a member of the research team of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium). Her research focuses on the role of educational policies in fostering multilingualism and minority language maintenance at the different levels of governance and the way they relate to each other.

Margaux D'Hulster
Researcher
Margaux D'Hulster is a doctoral researcher at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium). She holds a Master’s degree in French-Spanish language and linguistics and a Master's in Education. Her research focuses on the impact of educational programs such as CLIL on the identification of pupils.

Bart van Donselaar
Researcher
Bart van Donselaar is a doctoral researcher at the University of Aruba (Aruba) and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium). His research focuses on language in education policy at the national, regional, school- and classroom-layers, with specific attention to minoritized language practices in Aruba.

Marta Segura Hudson
Researcher
Marta Segura Hudson is a doctoral researcher at the University of Gothenburg (Sweden). Her research focuses on how language and linguistic resources are used as a medium of instruction and learning, intercultural communication and meaning-making, and the accessibility of education for multilingual students.

Kaat Buelens
Researcher
Kaat Buelens is a doctoral researcher at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium). Her research focuses on multilingual programs and their influence on language identity, identifying how teachers perceive and manage linguistic diversity in their classrooms, and how pupils perceive the impact of the school environment on their (language) identity.
